Eastern Market

Just kicking it on the Big Green Adirondack Chair. Students at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Georgetown are encouraged to think big by a huge green chair in front of the main building. Megan, Jonathan and I definitely thought big, we thought it would be a good idea to hit up the Eastern Market.

I absolutely adore the Eastern Market. It's
located in Capital Hill and it's DC's oldest continually operated fresh food market. They have locally grow and organic fruits and veggies, handmade arts, jewelry, crafts, live music, meats, flowers and so much more. It is a definite must if you're in DC.

The Eastern Market in DC is open Tuesday-Sunday year around!

Whole Foods Adventures

Jonathan and I are kind of obsessed with our local Whole Foods. It really does have so much to offer. They have a wine tasting room with over 180 wines on tap, a sushi bar,Gelato made in house with over 20 different flavors, live music on the outdoor patio and so much more. On Saturday night we ventured out to grab a bite to eat at the sushi bar and then headed up to the wine bistro.
they have an amazing cheese selection, so we ordered my favorite cheese from Cyprus...Halloumi Cheese.

and tasted some delicious wine like Cakebread Chardonnay..
After Sushi, Wine, and Halloumi, we went downstairs for some homemade cookies & cream Gelato and espresso before we took some wine over to a friends house for the rest of the evening.

Spa Treatments and Treats (Kentucky Derby & Cinco de Mayo)

Spring has definitely sprung here in Northern Virginia!! It is such a beautiful time of year when the leaves are bright green, you see burst of color everywhere you turn and smell fresh aromas that are breathtaking! Any of you who know us, know how much we treasure weekends at home with no obligations. I decided to treat myself to a day at the spa after brunch..............

After a rough day at the spa, we prepared for the Kentucky Derby!! We mixed up some Fresh Mint Juleps, BBQ Chicken Sandwiches and Mac & Cheese.......

and watched the races...

and of course had some tasty dessert!

The next morning we woke up and hit the pavement with a great run and admired all the blooming flowers in the yard.
Clean food is the best after a good run.

Today is Cinco de Mayo, which is also our 9 year (dating) anniversary, if that even still counts. It's definitely worth some recognition though. We prepared some Mahi Mahi fish tacos, sat on the porch and reminisced about the Cinco de Mayo that changed our lives 9 years ago, sipped on some Coronas and listened to one of our favorite Pandora stations...the Buena Vista Social Club.

Oh and the little girl got a new perch this weekend and she is completely obsessed with it...

Hope you all had a wonderful Spring weekend as well!!
