Flying The Cessna 182 Skylane.

My sister-in-laws boyfriend is a pilot, a darn good one at that. The two of them fly every chance they get, whether its just for fun on the weekends, or to get them to their destination of choice. They flew over from DC for the holidays and offered to take us for a ride in The Cessna 182 Skylane !! We couldn't refuse..
After doing a thorough safety check, as any good pilot would, we were off.

One and a half hours later, we were back on land! I was extra happy because I got a little queasy up there at 7,500 feet.  Needless to say, it was a wonderful experience. Thanks for the ride Johnny!

Christmas Eve Celebration!

Merry Christmas Eve!! Jonathan and I are on our way into the Shenandoah Valley for the holidays! Both of our schools are on winter break, no work for a while....just good old fashion holiday fun!
Once we arrive, the eggnog celebration begins. Every year my father-in-law makes a huge batch of homemade eggnog! It's a beautiful tradition that we look forward to every year! He inherited the recipe from his father-in-law and has mastered it to the fullest. We put on some good old fashion Christmas carols, wear silly Christmas hats, eat Christmas cookies & hot cheese and watch Jon prepare his Christmas magic.
It packs quite the punch, so its for adults only. Sorry Kids! This year we have so much to be thankful for as we toasted to another wonderful holiday season.
I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones.

Another Magical Night at the Nutcracker!

It's the weekend before Christmas!!(I can't believe it), I know I say this every year, but Christmas really snuck up on us this year! We purchased tickets to the Nutcracker a couple of weeks ago and have been really looking forward to this weekend. I absolutely love the theater and try to go every chance I get. My mother-in-law and I went last year and had an absolute blast, so this year we decided to invite the boys. We all headed into Georgetown for some last minute shopping and to enjoy the beautiful day..... 70 degrees in December!!! I felt like I was home in California. We hit some shops, listened to some amazing street artist, got some yummy treats and took in all the beauty of the city at Christmas time!!
Before the show, we had a wonderful dinner at Filomena's, you can find other post about this wonderful place, here.
It was a absolutely magical night at the Nutcracker!! If you haven't seen this performance yet, I would highly recommend it. What's better then sugar plum fairies the weekend before Christmas??

Holiday Stove-Top Organic Potpourri

Home is where the heart is and there is nothing better then a lovely smelling home. I try to avoid all the toxic phthalates that come in the form of artificial air fresheners and stick to making my own organic scents. I love the smell of Christmas and all the elements that characterize it!! Cinnamon, nutmeg, cranberries...yum!!! The great thing about Holiday stove-top organic potpourri is that it only takes a few minutes to assemble and its much cheaper then purchasing holiday candles. However, my house is always filled with candles too!! Here are  few of my favorite concoctions.

Cranberry Orange
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • 1 Lemon, sliced
