2014 was definitely the best year of my life thus far. It was the year all of our life altering challenges came to an end. One thing I have learned is to really appreciate the good times because pleasures do not last forever; neither do sorrows, so when life is great, you better hold on and appreciate every single minute. 2014 started off with a bang as we rang in the new year in DC at the Four Seasons with Megan and Johnny. Shortly after 2014 began, Jonathan went to study abroad in China for a week and got back just in time to be the best man at his brothers wedding. In February, we announced our long awaited pregnancy with nonstop tears of joy and attended a Kings of Leon concert. March was spent at the beach and in April we visited San Diego and Pismo beach. We also learned we were having a BOY in April and were thrown a beautiful "Team Pink vs. Team Blue, Baby Shower" in San Diego with all our closest friends. In May, Jonathan graduated from the George Washington University and we were off on our baby-moon to Cape May after our trip to Turks and Caicos was cancelled due to pregnancy complications. We had another amazing "Around the World" baby shower thrown for us in July and in September we welcomed our first born son. Austin's birthday really was the absolute best day of our lives and I would be pregnant year around if I could, I loved every single minute of it. September and October were blessed with lots of family visits and the Marine Core Marathon. The holidays were extra special this year with Austin and we celebrated Christmas in Medford, Oregon with the whole Clark gang! 2014 was definitely a blessed year and I can't wait to see what 2015 holds for our family!!

While we were in Oregon, we decided to take the kids to Science Works, a interactive science exhibit located in Ashland, Oregon. The exhibits touch on a multitude of fascinating phenomena; exploring energy, anatomy, chemistry, perception, motion, engineering and the kids love it....as well as the adults.. Our favorite exhibit is the Bubble-ology Room. If you're ever in Ashland, Oregon for a visit, I would highly recommend Science Works.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas this year! This was the best Christmas ever for our family with little Austin in tow and we were fortunate enough to celebrate three Christmas's this year! The first one was spent at home with my little family. Austin got a new monogramed suitcase for all his future travels and mom and dad gave each other practical gifts. I made some delicious Chicken Tikka Masala while we opened gifts around the Christmas tree, listened to Christmas carols and took several mental snapshots of how grateful we are!
Jonathan made some yummy White Russians as we opened gifts.
A few days later we headed to Oregon to spend Christmas at my moms house. It was the first time Austin got to meet all his cousins and his uncle Tim. He was absolutely smitten with them all and the feeling was mutual on their part. He received nonstop affection, love and gifts. He was a absolute champ on the flight too, no fussing and no tears...I think he was born to travel :). On Christmas Eve we decorated cookies while uncle Jonathan made his famous egg nog and dined on our family tradition of tamales!!.....what do you expect? We're from Southern California, haha!!
Austin is smitten with Grandma and Grandma can't get enough of her baby!
Kayelynns first American Girl doll! She was so happy to have her very own baby doll! I can't wait to take her to the American Girl store here in Nova for some clothes shopping and cupcakes this summer!
Christmas morning smiles!!
After a wonderful week in Oregon we headed to Virginia for Christmas #3! We arrived on New Years Eve for a party on the farm and rang in the new year with Pork and Sauerkraut!

It's always nice when the right people come into your life at the right time. That is how I feel about these ladies!! Deciding to resign from my company and stay home with Austin was one of the best decisions we have made for our family and these ladies have made it sooo sooo fun!! Every week we all get together for mommy & me play dates, baby sign language classes, baby rhyme time classes, or just lunch & shopping. It's so nice to have a group of lovely women and adorable babies to share new mom adventures with. This week we all got together to take some adorable pictures of our little 2014 babies for their very first Christmas. These little dolls are our everything!

One of my favorite activities during the month of December is our Christmas tree purchase! It's a whole day dedicated to decorating our home, Christmas carols, hot cocoa and quality time with my little family. This year we decided to capture it all for Austins first Christmas. Our amazing photographer Tara, from One Summer Day captured the day perfectly. You can see more of her work here, here & here. I hope you enjoy our family day of fun!

Since 1923, the United States has held a tradition of lighting a National Christmas Tree in Washington, DC. In 1978, a live 40-foot Colorado blue spruce was transplanted from York, Pennsylvania to its present site on the Ellipse, the grassy area south of the White House. In 1954, a "Pathway of Peace," 56 smaller, decorated trees representing all 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia were planted surrounding the National Christmas Tree, so we had to take Austin for his first Christmas. The cousins were in town to celebrate a birthday, so we met up with them, had dinner, walked around and admired all the beauty of the city during Christmas time..
