"Around the World" -Baby Shower

Over the weekend my best friend, mother-in-law & sister-in-law threw me and Baby Oliver the most beautiful baby shower!!! They went all out and I am sooo grateful for such amazingly generous and beautiful women in my life! The whole thing was so overwhelming for me and the first 20 minutes consisted of me trying to keep it together. I always figured I would have a small celebration after Jonathan and I adopted our first child, but I never thought I would have a baby shower for my own biological child. The whole day felt too good to be true and I have been on cloud 9 ever since. After five years of infertility treatments, tears, loss and heartbreak, this day was especially surreal and the memories will make me smile for a lifetime.

"Nobody wants sorrow, nobody wants pain, but you can't have a rainbow, without a little rain!"

I love this quote and think it sums up our journey so perfectly!

Anyway, sorry for the sappy stuff...back to the shower! :) The theme of the shower was "Around the World" and here is a pic of the beautiful invitations that went out!
The shower was hosted at the 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, VA. The restaurant is surrounded by lush landscaping, koi ponds, waterfalls, world-class artwork, and a lakeside view...it's so beautiful!!
My beautiful mother-in-law and sister-in-law taking a breather after setting everything up!
My best friend who flew here from CA to put this shower on for me! We have been best friends since the 7th grade and I love her more than words can express! We have been through everything together and she is more like a sister than a best friend!
The hostess's with the mostess! The three ladies who made this amazing day possible!

The restaurant served the most amazing food that everyone enjoyed.

4th of July in the Valley

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!! This year we headed down to the Shenandoah Valley to celebrate the 4th with the family. The weather couldn't have been more perfect! Low 80's with zero humidity and crystal blue skies, we really lucked out!! The majority of the day was spent visiting friends and family and playing yard games.
The little boy was there and he was rambunctious as ever!
Lots of yummy food choices for dinner!!
My brother-in-law is a pretty amazing artist and entertained us around the fire pit with his magic hands and great voice.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!! I am so proud to be an American and absolutely love this day and our amazing country!!
