Fathers Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads out there!!!

I'm so fortunate to have such an inspiring and loving father of my own. He inspires me to be a better person everyday and he leads by example. My dad is the ultimate optimist and has a heart of gold. He has been there for me through all the trails and triumphs of my life and I am forever grateful and proud to call him my daddy!!

Having such a good father of my own, I knew what good looked like in a man and I hit the jack pot when I met Jonathan. He is the ultimate husband and father and Austin is one lucky little guy to have him as his daddy.  He fills our home with respect, love and dedication every day and I can't imagine a better daddy for Austin.

Happy First Father's Day to a extra special guy!! Thank you for everything you do for us day in and day out! We love you!!

To celebrate Jonathan's first Father's Day we went to Jockey's Ridge State Park. Jockey's Ridge is the tallest natural sand dune system in the Eastern United States. After a wonderful breakfast, we hiked to the top of the sand dune to take in the island spanning views.
After we hiked to the top of the dunes, we headed back to the beach for some relaxation and family time.
For dinner we went to "I Got Your Crabs" Seafood market & Steam Bar for some raw oysters, fried flounder and blue crab nachos. I ordered some custom made shirts for the boys to wear on Father's Day and Jonathan loved them!!! His said "Big Fish" and Austin's said "Small Fry." I hope you were all able to celebrate the special dads in your life over the weekend as well!!!

Beach Baby!

Last week we drove down to the Outer Banks, NC for the weekend. It was Father's Day weekend, so what better way to spend it than playing in the waves, relaxing, eating raw oysters and crab cakes. The beach is our favorite place to be and Austin feels the same way. He is such a little water baby!! He just loves staring at the waves, putting his feet in the sand and swimming with mom and dad! Here are some pics of our fun in the sun..Salt in the air and sand in my hair is the best way to live!

Austin is NINE months Young!!

My BIG boy is NINE Months young!!! I really don't know where the time has gone!! I blink and you are another month older, another month wiser, another month smarter and another month cuter. Every month just gets better and better with you. Every month I can't imagine me loving you any more, or us being any closer and every month I love you more and we grow even closer!!

We officially have a crawler!!!! You stared crawling a few days after you turned 8 months and have been on the go ever since!! You are a little army crawler and you move pretty fast. Daddy and I baby proofed the house for our little man on the move and I built you your very own playroom. You love your playroom and crawl all over it while I'm getting our meals ready everyday. You started pulling yourself up from a laying down position and sit yourself up for addition play every time mommy puts you down for a nap. You had the proudest look on your face when you stated crawling and pulling yourself into sitting position and I can't explain how important it is to me to be able to witness every single one of your milestones.

You have five teeth now and are starting to get good use of them as you're feeding yourself now. I still feed you thick purees, but you're starting to enjoy feeding yourself. Some of you favorites are peaches, watermelons, pickles and veggie sticks. You are a complete mess when you're done eating, but we just love watching you  try new foods. I'm so glad you're this age during the summer, so you can enjoy all the wonderful summer treats!

Speaking of food, you started problem solving this month. You couldn't reach a celery stick you had dropped, so you picked it up with your feet and handed to yourself. Everyone that witnessed it was blown away! You are so smart and make me so proud! You also started turning the pages of the books we read you and paying attention to the pictures.

You are my most sacred treasure my dear boy and spending my days with your, watching you thrive is my everything!!

Strawberry & Cherry Picking!!

There is nothing that says "summer," like picking your own fruits and vegetables! I still have such vivid memories of apple picking with my family as a kid! We would pick barrels and barrels of apples for apple pies and other goodies!! It's such an important part of childhood, so I decided to start Austin early! We drove up to Hollin Farms, a pick-your-own farm to pick out some summer fruits.  They have ripe strawberries, cherries, lettuce, Swiss chard and bok choy currently.  There is just something special about picking fruits right off of the vine. My original plan was to pick a little bit of everything, but it was a HOT, HOT day, so we worked fast! My girlfriend Halley, and her little girl Peyton, packed a picnic and came to join us for the day. We started out in the strawberry fields and picked a couple cartons before heading over to the cherry trees. Austin LOVES strawberries and had them in his mouth before I could stop him, which made a complete mess, but life is about getting a little dirty sometimes!!! After we filled our cartons with strawberries, we walked up a massive hill to the cherry trees. I have never picked cherries before, so that was a real treat and they are delicious!!! As soon as we got home, I fed Austin some strawberries and he was screaming for more!! That boy definitely loves his summer fruits!!! I can't wait to go pick peaches next.
