Austin's Sock Monkey 1st Birthday Party

The first toy I ever bought Austin was a Sock Monkey. I was only 10 weeks pregnant and Jonathan and I were doing a pregnancy announcement photo shoot that can be seen here. Our photographer took a great shot of Austin's first ultrasound picture with the sock monkey and ever since that day, he has been our little monkey!! His favorite toy is a monkey that Daddy bought him for Valentine's Day, so a Sock Monkey theme birthday party just made sense.

The party was full of love for Austin and he had all his friends and family by his side to help him celebrate. We served Jungle Juice, Monkey Tails, Jungle Mix, Tropical salad, Monkey Vines, and Chimpanzee Cheese and Crackers. I ordered a beautiful smash cake from Simple Desserts and made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for everyone else.

I made two fabric garlands for decor with fabric I found at Joann's and placed one above the drink station and another around his highchair. The colors we choose for the party were red, white, brown, tan and gray. The invitations and water bottle labels were from Designing for Peanuts and I found the sock monkey dinner plates, cake plates, napkins, birthday hats and gift boxes at Amazon.  Each of Austin's guests received a to-go gift box filled with a Sock Monkey Rubber Ducky, Bubbles and some treats. I created a banner with all of Austin's monthly milestones with scrap paper I found at Michael's and had an area for people to write sweet nothings to the birthday boy.

We had a surprise guest appearance from Sock Monkey herself.  The babies didn't know what to think of her and it was pretty hilarious sight to see. It was such a wonderful party and Austin was soo happy and cheerful the whole time. It was such a special day for my little family and our BIG one year old boy!!!!
I hope you all enjoyed our sweet little monkeys first birthday party!!!

Tapas & Sangria Bridal Shower!

We threw my sister-in-law a Tapas & Sangria bridal shower over the weekend and it turned out perfect! We all love Spanish Tapas and a nice cool Sangria on a hot summer day, so the theme seemed like a no brainer! The weather was just right, it was hot, but not too hot and there was a nice breeze. We hosted the party at my in-laws farm and rented a big white tent for our guest to mingle under while enjoying their tapas and sangrias. I picked out some great fabric and created a fabric garland for the party and we infused two types of olive oil for take home gifts.

Our Tapas Menu consisted of:
Paella Valenciana
Serrano Ham & Membrillo Crostinis
Goat Stuffed Dates Wrapped in Bacon
Deconstructed Watermelon & Cucumber Gazpacho
Green Olives w/ Herbs de Provence
Roasted Plantains w/ Acocado Banana Dip

We made two types of Sangrias. The first one was a "Sparkling Strawberry Rosé Sangria" that can be found here and a traditional white Sangria.

The bride arrived radiant as ever and had a huge smile on her face all day!
Great Memories!!
I hope you all enjoyed the Tapas's and Sangria Bridal Shower.....I know we did!! :)

Austin is 11 months YOUNG!

I'm extremely late creating this post, but better late than never I suppose. Our little guy is 11 months young. You are only a couple weeks from being a ONE year old and I can't believe how fast time flies when you're having fun!!! I'm trying not to sound too repetitive here, but this is my favorite stage, hahaha. Every stage with you is magical, new and exciting and my love for you continues to grow! Your love for us continues to grow also and me, you and daddy are the absolute bestest friends ever!

You are eating table food like a champ. You absolutely refuse to be fed like a baby and your favorite foods are blueberries, grapes, watermelon, cheerios, chicken, carrots, green beans, bean burritos, pitas & hummus and string cheese!

You are quite the little walker now.....assisted walking anyway!! You LOVE walking all over the house with your walking toy and hold onto the wall to get everywhere else. You starting standing on your own this month too. You still aren't confident in your abilities though and buckle your knees as soon as you realize you're standing on your own.

Your favorite toys are still your monkey that you sleep with every night, your walking toy, your ball pit and you have become obsessed with planes. Every time you see one in the sky, or even hear the engine you reach up towards the sky. You love playing with other kids and your sweet little laugh lights up the room!!

This month you mastered your 13th flight with no tears and no fussing. The flight attendant thought you were so cute that she invited you into the cock pit for a picture. You took your first trip to CA and splish-splashed in the ocean like the little water baby you are.

I can't believe you will be turning one soon, but don't know what life was like without you. I have already started planning your first birthday party and you will be so excited to see all your friends and family!

You are the best part about me my sweet little love!!
